Żółta linia / The Yellow Line

A review of the most interesting urban initiatives in Europe and a search for a new definition of social involvement in architecture.

At the exhibition organized by the “Odblokuj” Association in the Constitution Square in Warsaw, several dozen of speculative architectural solutions from all over Europe were presented. All the projects had one idea in common: they believed in the value of acting in public space, with the participation of residents. Following this definition, architecture may be perceived as a catalyst for spatial transformations, a social project focused on joint action rather than only on construction works. The graphic design of the exhibition and accompanying publications was based on technical aesthetics and contrasting colours (yellow and black), and referred to the idea of open and as of yet unfinished actions.
