Mikrokosmos / Microcosmos

In 1977, a large soft pneumatic pavilion devoted to Soviet cosmonautics was placed in the Defilad Square in Warsaw.

The memory of the 1977 temporary installation visited by over one million people was the main theme of an exhibition held in honour of the achievements of the Warsaw architect Mikołaj Kołacz. The exhibition was organized by the Warsaw Branch of the Association of Polish Architects.

The graphic design of the printed materials included in the foreground the photographic documentation of the pavilion from the 1970s. The photos managed to capture the atmosphere of the fair combined with the surrealism and terror of those times, epitomized by the unusual shape of the yellow rubber “UFO” and the ever so watchful presence of the Palace of Culture and Science in the background.
